Our Technology Philosophy

Our current students will graduate into a world that requires some level of technology and AI fluency. Declining to prepare our students to use these tools risks leaving them unprepared to navigate the world responsibly. Inequitable access to new technologies widens the opportunity gaps that Prospect is committed to closing. We believe access to technology should reach every student, regardless of their family's wealth or background, and we are building our approach around that belief. Our responsibility, then, is to ensure our students are digitally literate and that both they, along with their teachers, have the skills to understand both the challenges AI raises and the promise it holds.

Guiding Principles

These commitments are supported by several guiding principles:

  • Safety & Privacy:

    We protect personal information carefully. Every tool goes through a data privacy and safety review before it reaches a classroom, in compliance with all laws and requirements.

  • Equitable Access:

    When we roll out new tools, we do it deliberately, so every student can benefit regardless of family wealth or background. We select tools that help us provide an excellent learning experience for all.

  • Integrity:

    We’re honest about when and how we use AI. Transparency builds trust.

  • Learning First:

    AI is a thinking tool, not a shortcut. It will never substitute the critical thinking, writing, problem solving, and human relationships at the heart of a Prospect education. Technology will enhance learning, not supplant it, or our educators’ judgment.

  • Accountability:

    We own everything we create or share — verifying accuracy, checking for bias, and applying our own judgment before acting on what AI produces.

  • Continuous Learning:

    The technology is changing fast. We’ll keep reflecting on and refining our practices, and keep reviewing these principles.
