April was packed with engaging and inspiring visits from several prominent authors at Clinton Hill Middle School. Early in the month, Newbery Award-winning author Kwame Alexander debuted his highly anticipated imprint, Versify, which aims to “‘electrify, edify, and exemplify’ with accessible and powerful prose and poetry that celebrates the lives and reflects the possibilities of all children.” He was joined by three of Versify’s first authors: Raul the Third, Kip Wilson and Lamar Giles.
Then, on April 16th, members of an 8th grade book club at CHMS were treated to a presentation and roundtable discussion with Mark Oshiro, author of Anger is a Gift. The students even had a chance to give Mark some fan art they’d created in his honor!
