Congratulations to Dana Mulwanda, Prospect Schools’ new Principal-in-Residence, who has been selected for Diverse Charter Schools Coalition’s inaugural cohort of School Launch Program Fellows! Dana will participate in a 12-month program that will catalyze the launch of new, intentionally diverse charter schools.
DCSC’s School Launch Program prepares aspiring leaders to create and lead high performing, intentionally diverse charter schools. Leaders in the Fellowship participate in a full-time, paid residency -at least 12 months long- at a member host school site. The Fellowship culminates in the launch of a new intentionally diverse school.
Dana began her journey as an educator as an undergrad at Boston College. Studying there sparked a flame for education and social justice that she has nurtured ever since. She received her M.S.Ed from Hunter College while teaching first grade. Four years ago she was drawn to Brooklyn Prospect because of its commitment to diversity and rigorous academic programming, in conjunction with project-based learning grounded in students’ questions. Dana is very much looking forward to being part of the DCSC’s inaugural cohort of fellows and learning from other strong leaders from communities around the country!
