REPORTING SCHOOL ABSENCES

Parents should call the main office (718-965-7950 ext 0) and leave a message for the office manager as soon as the parent is aware that the student will miss school. The advisor may also be contacted, but the office manager handles attendance and she must be the primary recipient of the information.  Please review the below reminder of school policy when a student is absent:

Reporting an Absence

Parents must contact the school (718-965-7959, EXT 0) either the day of the absence, or, if possible, prior to the absence by:

o    Voicemail message:  718-965-7959, EXT. 0
                OR
o    Email message: officemanager@brooklynprospect.org

PLEASE COMMUNICATE:
1.    STUDENT’S FULL NAME
2.    REASON FOR THE ABSENCE

On the day the student returns to school, she/he must submit a letter to the office manager from a parent or medical doctor giving the reason for the absence. officemanager@brooklynprospect.org

Additionally please note that we must record whether the student's absence is excused or unexcused, therefore it is important that you include the reason for the absence in your contact with the school.  Please consult the Student  and Family Handbook for our attendance policies.
