Lottery and Waitlist Applications are now open!

Brooklyn Prospect is a K-12, tuition free, public charter school.  

For the 2017-18 academic year, we will enroll grades K-4, and 6-12. To date, there have been more applicants than seats available. Although residents living outside of Community District 13 and 15 may apply to the school, district residents* are given priority.

Lottery

The lottery application for grades K, 6, and 9 for the next academic year are now open. You may easily check and/or review your application status at any time by signing into your SchoolMint account. All applicants will receive his/her lottery results electronically via email and/or text within 24-72 hours after the April lottery.

Waitlist 

For students applying to grades other than K, 6, and 9th, the waitlist application for the next academic year are now open. You may easily check and/or review your application status at any time by signing into your SchoolMint account. Admitted students from our rolling waitlist will be contacted electronically via email and/or phone. 


As your student rises to each intake year (6th or 9th), please submit a new application to be considered for the lottery.

 

Admissions Important Dates

MID-DEC  Lottery applications open online by November. 
                 Information Nights will be hosted until April. Click the "Information Nights" tab above to find these dates.  
APRIL 1  Lottery applications due by 5pm
APRIL 7  Public admissions lottery hosted for intake grades- K, 6, and 9
MID-APRIL  1st round lottery results emailed
 and/or sent by text
MAY 4  Decisions (1st round) due for K and grades 9-10

JUNE 1  Decisions (1st round) due for all other grades


*Parents/guardians must provide proof of district residency. In cases of transient families applying to Brooklyn Prospect, contact admissions@brooklynprospect.org.

Any student can apply to Brooklyn Prospect Charter School’s lottery. No test scores, grades, recommendations, or behavioral histories will be taken into consideration.

Preferences are given to the categories of applicants described below for each school. Please note that waitlists are established by previous lottery number, qualifying preferences, and/or waitlist application timestamp. 

 

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL | Downtown Brooklyn Campus | Grades K-5 | District 13

Applications will be accepted for grades K-4, with openings expected in kindergarten. All rising kindergarten students will be asked to complete a lottery application. All other students will be asked to complete the waitlist application. We offer lottery preference to:

  • Siblings of current students
  • Students residing in NYC who qualify for free and reduced lunch
  • Students residing in District 13  (link here to check your district)
  • Children of employees

MIDDLE SCHOOL  | Clinton Hill Campus | Grades 6-8 | District 13

Applications will be accepted for grades 6-7, with openings expected in 6th grade. All rising 6th grade students will be asked to complete a lottery application. All other students will be asked to complete the waitlist application. We offer lottery preference to:


MIDDLE SCHOOL | Windsor Terrace Campus | Grades 6-8 | District 15

Applications will be accepted for 6-8th grades, with openings expected in 6th grade. All rising 6th grade students will be asked to complete a lottery application. All other students will be asked to complete the waitlist application. We offer lottery preference to:


HIGH SCHOOL | Windsor Terrace Campus | Grade 9-12 | District 15

Applications will be accepted for 9-12th grades, with openings expected in 9th grade. All rising 9th grades students will be asked to complete a lottery application. All other students will be asked to complete the waitlist application. We offer lottery preference to:

Applicant families are strongly encouraged to attend an information session, held on the following dates and times. Each information session features a formal presentation by the school principal, followed by a question & answer session. No RSVP is required. Please note that sessions do not include a tour of building facilities.  Due to the large number of applicants, tours are only offered to admitted students and families after the April lottery.

Online Application and Waitlists

Please note that Brooklyn Prospect maintains wait lists for each school: elementary, middle, and high school until the following intake year: either 6th or 9th grade. As your student rises to each intake year, you must submit another application to be considered for the lottery.
